BIO

My name is Mara Veronica. I am a student of Mother Nature, herbalist, LMT, educator, childcare provider, and Mama to a 3- year old boy. I have been living in the Siskyou Mountains since 2013, exploring wilderness, studying native medicinal and edible plants, gardening, practicing ancestral earth skills, cooking traditional nourishing food, and now tending to a 12-acre homestead with my family. I took a year sabbatical to Kauai in 2015 to study Connective Bodywork that focused on the psycho-spiritual-physical connection. I also studied Visionary Cranial-Sacral under Hugh Milne from 2016-2019. In both these modalities I trained in the art of tracking the human landscape and deep listening.

As a child growing up in San Francisco I was always seeking out the wild places in parks, beaches, and North across the Golden Gate to the redwood forests and Marin headlands, collecting plants, seeds and shells along the way. I have been taking care of children since I was very young, starting as a nanny at age 10, and moving on to become and outdoor educator. I worked as a Lead Naturalist at Summer camps and after-school programs with Tree Frog Treks in San Francisco, starting as a teenage volunteer and continuing on into adulthood, spanning from 2003-2018. I have worked in a number of other types of programs over the years, in a variety of traditional and alternative educational and childcare settings, spanning from preschool to teenagers.

I am passionate about providing early childhood education in our rural community. I am a strong believer in supporting and nurturing little ones in an enriching, safe and loving environment, to help them gain a solid foundation and thrive in this world. I believe that allowing children to explore and connect deeply with Mother Nature offers deep nourishment for their nervous system, strengthens their physical body, kindles the fire of their spirit, and above all, offer endless fun adventures! For the past 5 years I have been mentoring with my Mother-in-law Liliana Fisher who ran Fledglings preschool in Sebastopol for 30 years.

For any questions please feel free to contact me.

Warmly,

Mara Veronica
